Status:
Macclesfield Insurance Services Ltd. Herein after referred to as (M.I.S.)
acts as an Independent Intermediary on your behalf. We represent a number of
Insurers and abide by the Financial Services Authority (F.S.A) code of practice.
We will commend an insurer or insurers based on an assessment of your needs.
We may also advise you on certain aspects of Risk Management.
Charges:
If M.I.S. makes an additional charge on the insurer’s premium,
this will be advised to you in advance. In the event of mid term
cancellation of a policy, M.I.S. retains the right to make refunds
net of commission. The company holds a licence under the credit
Consumer Credit Act. Professional Indemnity. M.I.S. conform to the
F.S.A rules in respect of Professional Indemnity Insurance. This type
of insurance is mandatory for all F.S.A registered Independent Intermediaries.
Confidentiality:
All information you supply will be kept confidential to M.I.S. and the
insurers with whom we deal save unless we are required by law to disclose
it to other parties. M.I.S. is registered under the Data Protection Act.1998.
If you provide information in relation to anyone else, you should make sure you
have his or her consent.
Proposal Forms:
All answers on any proposal form and any other statements made to us on
your behalf or by you are your responsibility. M.I.S. also specifically
accepts your instructions on the basis that we may offer you renewal at
policy expiry (see DMD below).
Disclosure Of Information:
It is important that you understand that any information given to us must be correct.
M.I.S would ask you to provide all information in Utmost good Faith. Any other
matters or information which might influence your insurers as to the acceptability
or otherwise of your proposal for insurance or the renewal of it, must be disclosed
at the earliest opportunity and certainly at each renewal. If you do not tell us the
your insurance may not operate properly or may not operate at all. You are advised
to keep copies of all letters that you send for your own protection.
Awareness of Policy Terms:
When a policy is issued you are strongly advised to read it carefully,
as it is that document the schedule, and any certificate of insurance
that is the basis of any cover you have purchased. If you are in any doubt
over the policy terms or conditions, please seek our advice promptly.
Claims:
If you want to claim on your policy you must notify us immediately.
We will issue you with a claim form, or direct you to an insurer’s help line,
and pass all details to your insurers. You should not admit liability nor agree
to any course of action, other than emergency measures carried out to minimise
the loss, until you have agreement from you insurers.
Complaints:
It is always our intention to provide good service. However, if you have any complaint
you should first contact us in writing. You may also contact any of your insurers direct
if the matter is not resolved to your satisfaction and we will provide the appropriate
addresses and telephone numbers for you.
Documents:
We reserve the right to retain insurer’s documents at
our office until payments due under the policy have been made
and any cheques cleared through our bank account. Monies held
within our bank account are held on behalf of the insurer.
Money Laundering:
Under the proceeds of Crime Act 2002.we are required to disclose to the authorities
transactions we believe may involve criminal property. We will on occasions ask for
proof of identity and/or evidence of ownership before proceeding.If you have any complaint
you should first contact us in writing. Your letter will be acknowledged within 5 working days,
and you will be asked for the full details concerning your complaint. Having received this,
you will be given an update on the progress of your complaint in accordance with the complaints
process. If the matter is not resolved to your satisfaction and we will provide the appropriate
addresses and telephone numbers for you.
Distance Marketing Directive(DMD):
This requires that we must have your specific instruction before you can be
offered renewal of your insurance. Therefore in effecting cover through us,
at inception or renewal, you are specifically instructing us to offer you renewal at
policy expiry.
IDD:
The initial Disclosure document is issued at the onset of any
business transaction with M.I.S. together with our terms of business.
Fact Find:
We May conduct a fact find if you require advice regarding life
business and you do not require execution only business. Once we
have made our recommendations to you, we will confirm our advice in writing.
Use of your information:
The information that you provide or which we obtain
in dealings with you will be held on our computer and other records.
We will treat all of your personal information as private and confidential
(even when you are no longer a customer) except where the law or any regulatory
obligation requires us to do so or where M.I.S. at your request or with your consent .,
for example carrying out credit reference checks and prevention of fraud. M.I.S.
is regulated under the Data Protection Act 1998.
FSA:
From 31st October 2004, General Insurance business will be regulated by the
Financial Services Authority; the FSA may require access to our customer
records in order to review our activities, as part of performing its regulatory functions.
Marketing:
M.I.S. will not disclose any information about you to any other person for marketing
purposes, we may as part of our service to you, occasionally keep you informed of
products services or special offers and we may contact you about these by letter,
telephone, e-mail.
Fees & Charges:
Your IDD Document will show if you are being charged a booking fee for your insurance.
Standard Other Charges are as follows:-
Mid-Term Adjustment - £20.00
Cancellation Charge - £25.00
Recorded Letter For None Payment - £ 20.00
Renewal Fee - £10.00
Duplicate Document - £10.00
Premium Credit Conditions:
If you make your insurance payments by direct debit, you agree to abide by the terms of the credit company,
if payments are not met on time you will be charged additional charges by the credit company and you may incur charges also from your own bank.
